Initially trained as a graphic designer using the traditional skills right on the time that everything switched over to doing it with computers I found myself becoming a printer in a small photographic studio. Using the basic developing and printing skills I had as a foundation I learnt the skills of the master photographic printers and the techniques they used, transferring over to the first versions of Adobe Photoshop I learnt to achieve what had previously only been achieved by combining photographs with scissors and tape.
Whilst developing my style I also started to shoot more imagery and produced the first press shots and cd artwork for local band Muse. Encouraged to take the leap and moving to London and spending the next 6 years assisting and learning from the master photographer Gered Mankowitz whos archive included most of the iconic images from the 60's 70's and 80's. Gereds enthusiasm and quest to continually develop meant we were some of the first photographers to incorporate digital imagery into scans from images shot on film in the studio, opening up whole new possibilities.
Shooting on a regular basis for magazines such as NME, Mixmag, Ministry, XLR8R, Electronic Musician and also assisting photographers such as Jill Furmanovsky (Oasis, Pretenders) and Mick Rock (Queen, Bowie) I learnt to combine the skills from the age of film with the newly developing digital age to produce a style which eventually led to myself shooting most of the covers for DJ Mag whilst it was under the steady hand of editor Lesley Wright.
Since then my work and style has been used by many artists, labels and magazines on both sides of the Atlantic and has seen me working for clients such as Sony, BMG, Universal, Polydor, Virgin, V2, EMI, Warners etc and shooting imagery for artists such as Sir Tom Jones, The Prodigy, Snow Patrol, UNKLE, Judge Jules, Sacha and many more. Recent work has seen myself becoming increasingly more involved with the mountain biking scene and has led to shoots for clients such as Red Bull, Mountain Biking UK, What Mountain Bike, MBR etc.
